Qualifications:

Highly organized, motivated leader with skills to develop an exemplary publication in health care research and infusion therapy.

Extensive experience in research and peer-reviewed publishing; expertise in quantitative/qualitative methodologies, nursing informatics, and big data research.

Experience as a peer-reviewed journal author, manuscript reviewer, or editorial board member.

Must hold a master’s in nursing with research experience. Research or clinical doctorate in nursing preferred; other doctorates considered if paired with a nursing degree.

Active RN license required, CRNI® credential preferred, or willingness to obtain within 2 years.

Minimum of at least 5 years of education, administration, research, or clinical practice within the infusion specialty.

Proficiency in publishing software and a willingness to learn new technologies.

Proven leadership in healthcare, academia, or publishing.

Strong national and international professional network and recognition.

Established connections with nursing and healthcare leaders and institutions globally.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Editor-In-Chief

Journal of Infusion Nursing
-
-
Establish operational relationships with Wolters Kluwer Senior Publisher, Publishing Department, and Advertising Department.

Develop the editorial program for Journal of Infusion Nursing; solicits original articles on key topics as necessary.
-
Oversee the peer review of manuscripts, distribute manuscripts to Editors and assume responsibility for all editorial decisions.
-
Write editorials and solicit guest editorials.

Work with Managing Editor to develop and maintain an Editorial Review Board, acquisition of manuscripts, and serve as Editor-in-Chief.

Help develop the mission/vision for the Journal of Infusion Nursing and promote the core values of INS.

Appoint an Editorial Board; oversee the Peer-Review Panel, directs their activities, and provide annual reviewer reports.

Submit, or delegate submission of, complete editorial materials, through Editorial Manager, to the Publisher according to established nonnegotiable deadlines.

Review page proofs for each issue and transmit corrections to the publishing office.

Improve key journal metrics and article quality.

Promote the Journal of Infusion Nursing at professional meetings, on social media, and other appropriate forums.

Maintains editorial integrity and professional ethics according to Standards of Care and Standards of Professional Performance.

Understand and keep current on changing and future trends in infusion nursing/vascular access and academic publishing.

Make final decision on acceptance or rejection of articles. Editor-in-Chief’s decision is final.

Review and make final decision of appeals, which is the editorial final decision.

Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice

Provide organizational and operational oversight to the INS Standards of Practice Committee.

Manage 3-year revision cycle of the Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice.

Direct all editing, design, and layout requirements of the published product.
-
Collaborate effectively to produce digital content of the Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice marketed on various platforms.

Determine and grant permissions for requests for all published materials.
-
Maintain and archive accurate materials and records.
Director of Publications
-
Supervise Publication Department staff. Perform and review team member evaluations.
-
Establish, oversee, and administer a publication structure to achieve the goals of the organization and the publications department.
-
Work with the CEO to monitor and administer a publication budget that allows for sustainability and evolution of the publications department.
-
Establish and administer a publication schedule to ensure the timeliness and currency of INS publications.
-
Create and administer the production process for print and electronic publications, including research and technical editing, proofreading and cover design work to ensure a quality product.

Provide tactical management for development of new products and resources.
-
Oversee publishers to ensure performance, branding, consistency, and quality of publication products.
-
Negotiate, draft, and oversee author and publication contractor contracts for INS, working within budgetary and sound financial parameters to ensure quality publications.

Maintain relationships with authors and editors on book projects to ensure timely completion of manuscripts and the quality of the work product.

Ensure the publications staff collaborates and communicates with the Marketing team to create a marketing strategy and marketing plan, to effectively advertise and promote INS publications and to notify all customers of revised editions, supplements, and new publications.

Coordinate and communicate with printers, binder suppliers, and other vendors to ensure the timeliness and quality of INS publications.

Maintain relationships with INS, committees, members, and the public, representing the strategic goals of the organization.
