Discharge teaching instructions

As a nurse, discharge teaching instructions is an expectation for both inpatients and outpatients.  Most standard-of-care facilities have standardized written instructions on a variety of interventions that are  provided to the patient at discharge.

I'm curious if (1) your research site develops discharge teaching instructions for each research protocol and (2) if your research site allows nursing staff to provide study specific instructions (3) if yes, are your required to obtain IRB approval or does your facility consider providing discharge instructions part of standard care?

Example might be, written instructions as a reminder to the patient/participant receiving a drug that prevents them from using contact lens, instructing them to not use contacts for the next 3 weeks or written instructions on restrictions following a LP.
