Rear Adm. Sylvia Trent-Adams, RN is now the acting surgeon general. She received a PhD from the University of Maryland, where she also served as a research nurse. She joined the Public Health Service in 1992 and worked on HIV/AIDS before joining the Surgeon General's office. She was just promoted from deputy Surgeon General to Surgeon General on the resignation of Dr. Vivek H. Murthy.

It is wonderful to have a nurse in our speciality reach this office!

Thanks for sharing Linda!  She would make a great closing speaker for our conference.  Maybe in inspirational talk on how her experiences has a clinical research nurse informed her later career steps.
