Title: Secretary

Position Summary:

The secretary represents IACRN’s mission and vision.  As such the secretary is expected to act with respect and moral integrity.  The secretary integrates the principles and philosophy of professional nursing and Clinical Research Nursing (CRN), thus supporting the advancement of CRN as a specialty and all associated activities of that role. The Secretary supports the duties of the President and Board of Directors by performing the major responsibilities listed below and other duties as assigned.

Major Responsibilities:

Maintains all records as required by law;

Oversees the proper recording of the proceedings of the general membership and of the Board of Directors;

Records,  maintains and submits minutes to the Board of Directors for approval and makes approved minutes of open meetings available to the general membership within 30 days of the meeting;

Manages and directs activities of the Association as approved by the Board of Directors. 


The secretary is responsible to the Board and performs other duties as assigned by the bylaws and the Board of Directors, including but not limited to the following:


Maintaining correspondence

Maintaining minutes of meetings

Notifying members about meetings

Position Requirements:

Member in good standing of IACRN.

Estimated time commitment:

This position has a two year commitment.  There are 8 Board of Director meetings per year, one each month of approximately one and one-half to two hours, for which the secretary is responsible to attend, contribute to discussions, and record the proceedings.  Every third month, instead of the regular meeting, there is a 4-hour teleconference Board of Directors meeting in its place, with the 4th being at the Annual Conference in the Fall.  There are periodic ad hoc meetings or assignments that may vary in responsibility and time commitment.   On the average, there is approximately 6-8 hours a month commitment.
